On this day in 1712, Thomas Bowrey wrote his last will and testament. He had written an earlier draft in 1706 but this was the version standing when he died a year later.
He described himself as Thomas Bowrey of Well Close Square in the Parish of Stepney … being at this present in health of Body and of Sound and perfect memory and mind. He appointed his dear and loving Wife Mary Bowrey his sole executrix.
His first two bequests were of his Manuscript Book in a Green Cover to the United East India Company and his Manuscript book of draughts and descriptions of the Coast of America to the South Sea Company. So far, I have been unable to trace either of these books and would dearly love to know if they still survive.
