On this day in 1699 Bowrey paid what appears to have been his tailor’s bill. The items included were:
- Stitching and Sewing a Frill
- Fine Drawing
- Making a Cloth Coat
as well as a couple of other indecipherable items. The total bill amounted to 15/6 (worth a little less than £100 today).
Fine drawing was probably drawn thread work on the frill or cravat to be worn with his full-skirted, knee-length coat.
Unfortunately, his tailor tells us nothing about the colour of the cloth used to make the coat as so we do not know whether Bowrey was a plain or flamboyant dresser.
